The display is all marbled up and there is a squeeky sound coming out of the iphone4s instead of the clicking sound. Can you please fix that?
The app crashes immediately once it is started. Disappointing By when will it work? Im using a regular iPhone 6plus with up-to-Date operating system and no jailbreak or similar. If LaanLabs cannot make it work, they should be fair and proactively transfer the money back, otherwhise it is a case of fraud.
This sounds cool on paper but the app is worthless.
Even if it isnt very useful, it is really cool.
Hardly worth the 99 cents. More of a curio than an actual tool.
Not much use if noise level is above whisper.
Whare is my many? this app not work!!!!!
iPhone 5s bought app wouldnt even open. Uninstall.
Sonar Ruler The program does not open and close the same
App works great to be in beta stage seriously anyone complaining about aesthitics and it not working need to read descriptions and reviews to see it doesnt work well with 2G and its in BETA.
I tried to use it but it is not working for me. There is no instruction how to use, or calibrate.
I dont write a lot of reviews but I absolutely support this app and I think you should too. This app isnt perfect but what it is trying to achieve pushes the bounds of the technology for a scientific purpose. It also has amazing educational possibilities. The price is the lowest one can charge for an app and I truly believe money should go to fund a project like this. Kudos to the dev team. -Andrei Freeman 30 yr Apple 3rd party software developer.
I have an iPhone 3G, and I thought the app wasnt working. Well, I removed the phone from its leather case, and now it works GREAT! The software seems to be very sensitive to how the phone is being held and whether it is in any kind of protective cover or case.
Anyone saying this is accurate is either lying or a fool. Bounces all over the place even after taking the time to follow directions to a T. Needs development & Im not sure it will ever get to a stage where it can accurately b described as accurate
This sonar ruler application was very confusing and frustrating . What a waste of $0.99. I deleted this App. To bad the seller did not provide the video explaining how it works prior to having to buy it. If I had viewed the video first I would have declined buying this sonar ruler. I think the person explaining how to use the sonar ruler on the video seemed a bit confused as to how to use it.
Watched the video and just doesnt really work well. Not accurate.
I read a bunch of reviews, both good and bad and was fully aware of the fact that this app really falls into the experimental category. But the idea is exceedingly cool and this particular app seemed to be the one to get. As per the authors instructions, I viewed the instructional video and read all of the documentation twice. Nonetheless, I was unable to get the app to work at all. It never gave me an accurate measurement even once. In fact, it never really gave me any measurements at all that were not just noise. Undeterred, I read the docs again and attempted to do a manual configuration of the app. Unfortunately, if youre lucky enough to find the information on the "custom" calibration for the app, the docs are obtuse and dont really explain what the settings in question really do. As a last resort, I contacted the author through the contact link on their website (which contains almost no information about the app itself). Its been two weeks now with no response whatsoever. Im sure this sort of technology for the iPhone will improve over time, but at the moment neither the app or the company are ready for prime time.
Doesnt do the one thing its supposed to do. Will not be purchasing any app associated with Laan Labs in the future.
This is really a well done app. The interface may not be the slickest, but it does exactly what it sets out to do. For those having trouble, consider a few things: 1)Sound reflects best off of hard flat surfaces, so trying to measure a distance to something absorptive or irregularly shaped may not work well. 2) Setting the air temperature will indeed affect your measurements. 3) Cupping your hand under the microphone and speaker as shown in the video will increase the volume of the clicks by focusing the sound from the phone; think of your hand as a crude megaphone or acoustic horn. This increases the signal to noise ratio and will increase the accuracy of the app. 4) Consider the ambient noise in the room. If you are trying to measure in a noisy environment, your signal to noise ratio will be poor and results will be inaccurate. In closing I really am impressed with this; I would not have thought that the built in mic had the sensitivity to detect reflections from those distances. Well done.
